How did we meet?
Noelle: Alex and I met on move in day at UTSA in 2014. My prom date actually introduced me to Alex minutes after I had settled into my dorm. He seemed shy and we didn’t really have much conversation that day. From then, we would exchange hi/bye when walking past each other on campus. He was actually in my biology class Spring semester, but I didn’t notice that until the very last day of class (I went to that class 5 times total, sorry mom). By that point I had already applied as a transfer student at the University of Houston and moved back home a week later.
Alex: Like Noelle said, we met on our very first day of college, move-in day. I remember my first impression of her was, ‘Wow, she’s really short.’ I think I saw her a total of 4 times the rest of the school year. We were friends, but rarely talked to each other because I was in another relationship at the time and she was busy doing her own thing. It wasn’t until the following summer of 2016 where we became reacquainted with each other after my infamous Instagram post.
Noelle: Because I was busy and knew Alex was in another relationship, I had zero thoughts or intentions of pursuing more than a friendship with him. If you asked me in the summer of 2016 if I was ready to be in a relationship I would’ve said absolutely not. I wasn’t looking for one because I didn’t believe I had the time to give attention to someone else. I barely ever texted him back (oops). It wasn’t until July 2nd when my interest sparked. He posted a picture and had a fully shaven face (my fav), hair fixed, eyes closed, and to top it off he had such a sweet smile. Let’s just say I texted him back that day.
Alex: Honestly, when I posted that picture I was feeling myself. It was a great picture (shoutout to my dad for that candid pic). That day I happened to be getting ready for my uncle’s wedding, I was the best man so I had to look dapper. Then, Noelle texted me back that day and I felt as if all the stars had aligned. I knew it was an absolute sign from God that this is what I need in my life. I was still hesitant to really delve into a relationship with Noelle, however, because she was always really busy and it would be long distance. We still texted each other nearly every day after that day, but I patiently pursued her. Along the way, I prayed to God asking Him about Noelle and if this is what was meant to be. I didn’t get the answer to those questions until later that month.
Noelle: Without God, this relationship wouldn’t be possible. Every day I used to pray for God to bless me with someone who would center our relationship around Him. Thankfully, I feel like God heard and answered my prayers that summer with Alex. Like Alex said, we started to text nearly every day after that just getting to know each other more. Then, Alex asked me to join him at a Hillsong United concert in Houston on July 23rd. For those of you who don’t know, Hillsong United is Christian worship band that Alex and I both love listening to! When he asked me to the concert I thought about it for the shortest time because I had something in my heart and mind telling me, “Noelle, you have to go.” We went to the concert, which we will explain in the next post, and I still thank God every day for that night. I’ll never forget it.
Alex: You cannot paint a better first date. We’ll tell you all about it next post!
