Our (last) first date.

Alex: So, I had a couple of friends going to this concert in Houston and they invited me for the ride. I was so down because it was for one of my favorite Christian bands, Hillsong United. If you have never been to one of their concerts I STRONGLY encourage you to go! It is such an emotional experience and you can literally feel the power of the Holy Spirit throughout the entire arena. Anyways, I made the bold move of asking Noelle if she wanted to go with me. Mind you, we had only been talking for about a month, but I felt this strong urge to ask her out. Fortunately, she said yes. All I had to do next was buy our tickets, which was a bit nerve racking in itself because this was very last minute and good tickets were hard to come by.

Noelle: Actuallllly, he asked me out only 2 weeks after we started texting, not even “talking.” I was shocked that he was already asking me on a date but like I said in the last post, something was telling me to just go for it. After he bought the tickets he kept joking about how we would have to hold the spot lights at the top of the Toyota center because of how high the seats were. However, that wasn’t the case at all, our seats were amazing! Alex planned to drive to Houston to pick me up then head over to the Toyota Center and boy was I nervous. I had an outfit change like 10 times and usually it takes me 2 minutes to get ready. I was finally prepped and ready to hang out with this guy for the first time ever.

Alex: On my drive (from SA to Houston) to pick up Noelle, I was so nervous. Strangely though, I knew it was going to be great. I prayed throughout a good portion of that drive to ensure that this was all God’s plan and that it would work out. Finally, I picked up Noelle and we went to the concert. I remember traffic was especially bad that day (Houston’s traffic is awful already) because of a Pitbull concert happening too. The traffic and the trying to impress Noelle shot up my anxiety levels. I wanted it to be perfect! We got to the concert and we somehow got extremely lucky because we got amazing parking next to the venue. I lowkey planned it all along (at least that what I made it seem). Then, we got into the arena and on to our seats. Honestly, I scored some pretty sweet tickets on the lower deck with a perfect view of the stage. An experience like Hillsong is meant to experience up close.

Noelle: The experience of the concert itself was just so uplifting and empowering. Alex and I stood up the entire time with our hands in the air singing out to our Lord to guide, protect, and hear us. I don’t know about you, but when I see a man who isn’t afraid to cry out to the Lord for guidance then I see someone who I can potentially create a strong relationship with. Every worry and doubt I had left my mind. I felt so unbelievably comfortable standing next to Alex. He was just as tall and handsome as I remembered. The attraction only grew when I saw his love for Jesus. Once the concert ended, we left the arena pretty quickly and as soon as we stepped foot outside I started to panic a little bit because I realized I left my wallet inside the Toyota Center. Suppppper smooth move to leave a great first impression on a first date am I right? A security guard lets us back in and we go to our seats to find NO wallet. At this point I just had my head down and was rethinking all life choices as we walked to the car. Wallet-less. However, by the grace of God (literally) someone had turned my wallet in to the security guard and they shouted at me to come back and get it.

Alex: I absolutely adored every single second of the concert with Noelle. She didn’t know much of the songs, but to see her there next to me, arms stretched to the sky, I just new I had to do everything to create a relationship with this amazing person. That genuine love for God was what I fell in love with and still in love with. Later, that whole situation with her wallet was hilarious to me. I knew we weren’t going to find it at our seats, but I also knew that someone would be kind enough to turn it in. It really speaks to how the first date was meant to go that everything was going to work out for the best. I took her home that night and I remember that I just didn’t want to leave her. I didn’t want the night to end. It was a perfect night, to say the least. I knew as soon as I left that this was only the beginning to a beautiful relationship.

Noelle: Alex was a complete gentleman that night. He brought me back to my apartment, walked me upstairs and hugged me goodbye. I remember praying to God that night and thanking Him for answering my prayers so quickly. I wasn’t expecting a relationship at that time of my life, but God knew I could handle it. God brought someone so gentle and genuine into my life that is willing to grow a relationship through Him. It was an amazing (last) first date and I’m so thankful that I got to share the moment and grow closer to God with Alex. He left back for San Antonio the next day and I was already missing him so I immediately tried to figure out when I could see him next.
