Our Individual Lives.

But what about our individual lives?

Alex: Since Noelle and I are apart for most of the time, we have a lot of time to work toward our goals as well as work on ourselves. Currently, I am gearing up for my last year in school. I graduate next spring and hopefully will start my career in environmental sciences. On the side, I’m busy building a photography portfolio and Christian lifestyle brand. I am also a part of a Catholic young adult group that started within my home church here in San Antonio.

Noelle: One of my favorite characteristics about Alex is his ambition. He is great at putting focus into the things that he loves. It’s easy for me to support his ideas and dreams because he works hard to make opportunities for himself instead of waiting for opportunities to come to him. Currently, I’m spending my days studying for my summer school classes, applying for optometry school, and preparing to take the OAT (Optometry Admissions Test). I relieve the stress that comes from all of that by going on long runs or doing yoga.

Alex: Noelle’s support is one of the biggest reasons why I am able to push toward my goals. She encourages me every day to be better than I was the day before. I’m so proud of what Noelle has accomplished thus far. We joke about how busy she always is, but it’s actually inspiring because she never wants to settle for complacency. Throughout our relationship, we are able to push each other to be best individual, which in turn helps us be the best people for our relationship.

Noelle: I like to say I’m Alex’s number one fan. I can take on anyone who would argue that! We both have busy schedules, so being able to provide each other with a constant support system helps us get through it all. Not only do we push each other to be a better individual, we push each other to turn to God when we lose motivation.

Alex: Our number one advice when asked about how we are able to do a long distance relationship for so long is communication. No matter how busy Noelle and I get, we always make time for each other whether it be a 5-minute phone call or a FaceTime before we go to bed. It’s also important to us that we keep God at the center of our lives. Putting Him before all else, we are assured that our relationship will work no matter what obstacle comes in our way. He makes the distance bearable and any other obstacle non-existent. We are truly grateful to Him for our entire relationship.

“being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” Colossians 1:11-12 NIV
